Upholstered Beds

Upholstered beds have increased in popularity over recent years. Gone are the days of purchasing a seperate  upholstered headboard with a standard bed frame - today you can purchase a bed that is fully padded and professionally upholstered for the upmost luxury! This can include fabric on the base, headboard, footboard and sides.

Upholstered beds also provide a more tactile finish to the room - the fabrics are often textured and feel somehow warmer and more inviting than some other designs.

The fabrics used on upholstered beds vary, but the most popular styles include corded finishes, bold prints in colour, chenille looks and velvet finishes. Some of the prints available are pictured opposite to give you an idea.

Some bed manufacturers work in a similar way to sofa manufacturers in that they will offer a choice of materials, colours and fabrics for your bed, which is sometimes then made to order. This gives the buyer far more flexability in their purchase, ensuring the bed will suit the room it will be housed in by matching any intended decoration. It also provides a greater variety of choice and is one of the reasons upholstered beds are still increasing in popularity today.

Like many other styles of bed, optional extras can be included to suit your requirements, these include under bed (ottoman) storage, divan style draws, footboards and some even come with a television installed in it (see picture opposite).
